  • Sometimes reading the paper sucks.  Makes me wanna cry.  Makes me think about my life and be appreciative of what i have.  Makes me wanna go and get what i don't have.  Makes me scared that i'll never get what i want.

Mostly, makes me think of the old school Sim City computer game where the destructive you  can click on an area and hit it with any natural disaster you desire:  tornados, earthquakes, floods, fires, riots....and monsters.

  • I went to this Vietnamese Culture Celebration yesterday and it was a really nice break from studying.  There were lots of little kids doing cute dances and adults singing what i like to describe as karoke on stage.  Like with most culture shows in America, there has to be a Hip Hop segment.  Before it started, I wondering if it was going to be Asian influenced or American based. The girls started moving their hips and shaking their shoulders and the boys danced Usher-style...ah...American based.  As I made comments about my disappointment, my friend Quyen reminded me that Hip Hop is American culture and that at least they weren't dancing to Beyonce but to Vietnamese songs.  That did make me feel a little better but I couldn't help wishing that these young teens didn't start so early with the hip shaking.  Eventhough, I laugh a bit at Asian hip hop, I hoped a smidgen that these kids would like the Asian style.  Unfortunately, the night ended with a different group of kids dancing to Beyonce (how ironic) with a different set of  unappropriate provocative booty-swaying moves.  It was very unnerving to hear the guy behind me yell out "YEAH" as the young girls took off their their first layer of clothing.

  • A small continuation w/the previous entry...

I hope that with the whole NY Hot 97 FM shit that went down, more radio shows will be careful with their racist jokes or commericals.
